Dr. Kate Leeming's (EC M'13) new film, The Lights of Ladakh.

The 50-minute film is about Kate's 2018 Breaking the Cycle in Ladakh expedition – a 1200km cycle over some of the world’s highest mountain passes and a journey to bring light and education to 1100 year-old Ralakung village, the oldest and most remote village in the Zanskar region of the Indian Himalaya. The Lights of Ladakh is a great example of how exploration and adventure can be harnessed to support people and the planet.

The story is dedicated to Kate's father, Ted, who passed away suddenly a week before she embarked on what was to become a very spiritual, personal journey.

The Lights of Ladakh will premiere this Thursday 23rd September, packaged together with a pre-recorded interview and finishing with four short bonus videos about what's up next for Kate. It will be streaming worldwide until 8th October.

Win fantastic prizes generously donated by Kate's sponsors including 2x Suunto 9 Peak watches, 10x Lazer Sphere MIPS helmets, cool Snow gum gear and signed copies of Kate's books Out There & Back and Njinga.

Adventure Plus,  the SVOD (Subscription Video on Demand) platform for Adventure Entertainment, is like “Netflix for adventure films”. A portion of the $4.99 monthly subscription goes towards helping Kate cover the costs of what she does – expeditions, education and film projects. By subscribing you will also receive access to the rest of the extensive Adventure Plus catalogue for a month.

Kate made the film during last year's long Victorian lockdown and, a year later, she felt it was the right time to release it, in the hope it will bring some inspiration to many of us who have been confined for too long. The funky animation on the antique maps in the film is by EC Member, Kasimir Zierl.

If you enjoy the film, Kate would really appreciate it if you could please help to SPREAD THE WORD - tell friends, family and fellow explorers, post on social media, etc.
