Ice and Ocean: Greenland 07 - flag expedition (2007-07-30)

Graham Charles (member) and Marcus Waters of the Adventure Philosophy team will fly to Greenland in August to ski and kite 750km from Angmassilik to Ilulissat. Once there they will turn this journey into a 'one of a kind' by switching skis for kayaks and paddling 500km south down the coast to Nuuk.

They are working with the Royal Society and Freemasons BIG Science Adventures team during the journey. We will be compiling a transect of video and data from the east to the west and talking with locals from either side of the island to help the BIG science team and add to their studies from Greenland and the UK. The purpose of their study of Greenland and the UK is to make a documentary on change comparisons between the two for educational purposes in New Zealand. It will be permanently available to schools and other audiences on the Hot Science website (www.hotscience.co.nz).
