As the world’s largest ‘island’ – and the only country to span an entire continent – Australia, together with New Zealand, has its fair share of explorers - our pioneering spirit is still strongly ablaze today. As a quick cross-section of our membership reveals, while we may be hidden down underneath the globe, our members have definitely left their mark on the world stage, and continue to do so!

Sir Edmund Hillary – The Explorers Club’s honorary Chairman – is of course one of our members, along with other greats including Dick Smith, and Bill McGrath. Tim Jarvis holds the record for the world’s fastest unsupported journey to the South Pole; Dr Ann McFarlane, our chapter chair, has been involved with excavations of Old Kingdom sites in Egypt for over 25 years; and Clark Carter and Chris Bray – two of our younger members – have ventured across unexplored regions of the arctic; together we have 55 extraordinary members in the ANZEC:
